Hello friends, Today our discussion is based on the concepts of Extended Reality.
Let me ask you a question first. What is Extended Reality? A hybrid of Augmented, Virtual, and Mixed Reality? Exactly.
It carries the features of the technologies mentioned above.
In this article, we will go about discussing minor details regarding the concepts, its types, future aspects, gadgets, and lots of other cool stuff.
I will guide you step by step in the easiest language possible.
Let’s start with the discussion.
Moreover, do check out the bonus video at the end of the article.
What is Extended Reality? XR of the Future
Before starting off with this article, I want you guys to be thorough with the concepts of Mixed, Virtual and Augmented Reality.
If you aren’t? Go and check out our articles related to MR, VR and AR technology. Those articles will help you a lot to grasp the concepts very easily.
For your easiness, let’s keep it simple.
Extended Reality or what we call is XR is referred to as the superset term used for AR, VR, and MR.
Moreover, it covers the full continuum spectrum of Mixed Reality which we discussed in our previous articles. So, its better to read out the previous articles to understand it better.
However, friends, do not misunderstand XR with MR. Both have some similarities but are different in many aspects.
Understand in this way. XR basically refers to the intersection of AR, VR, and MR technologies.
To understand better, let’s first briefly go through the basics of components of XR.
Let’s start with Virtual Reality.
Now, friends this term needs no introduction. According to me, If you are reading about MR, you would be thorough with VR.
But if that’s not the case, no worries.
Virtual Reality or in short what we call is VR is simulated experience taking place in an immersive environment. From immersive here we mean is the virtual environment.
Virtual Reality is a type of artificial environment where a person what he or she wants to view.
This virtual environment can be similar to the real world or can be a whole new different experience.
Here the point to be noted, there is no presence no real-world elements. Only digital or virtual elements.
If you want to learn more about Virtual Reality, click here.
Let’s now learn about Augmented Reality.
As most of you guys have read in our previous articles, AR adds the digital elements to the real world without changing the user’s perception of the real world.
It does not cut out the user totally from the real environment.
In this, the person remains in the real world and experience the visuals, aural, and feelings which are created virtually.
Moreover, if you want to learn more about Augmented Reality, click here.
Let’s get our hands-off over Mixed Reality.
Look, guys, when we define MR as a standalone concept, it just refers to the combination of Real and Virtual world.
Moreover, it is an attempt to merge the best of Virtual and Augmented Reality. Together, they create new visualizations and environments.
Here real and virtual objects co-exist in real time to provide us with the best experience.
However, guys, there are two types of MR. The one you read above refers to independent Mixed Reality.
The second one refers to a broad spectrum of realities about which you can learn by clicking here.
Scope of Extended Reality
As you read above, the XR is the superset or intersection of AR, VR, and MR.
It will allow us to seamlessly work together with Computers. Moreover, we don’t have to disrupt our daily task for some emergency meetings.
Yes, friends, you heard it right.
Let’s create a situation. You are the MD (Managing Director) of your company.
And your company has its production lines in various parts of this Solar System. Yes, I am talking about 2050.
So, you have a meeting with your Boss, plus you have to visit all the Production Lines for just the sake of inspection.
Now this situation seems pretty hectic in today’s world. But as told you, friends, It is 2050. So, you can manage all these by sitting in your office. See this is the power of XR.
This might have excited you guys. And it should. Because it is very futuristic. Just like a Marvel movie.
You will be delighted to know that the market fold of XR is estimated to grow eight times.
Its market cap can reach more than $209 Billion by 2022.
Moreover, Tech-Giants like Accenture and many others have already started their projects over this futuristic new technology.
But guys, as you know, cybercrime can be an issue to be tackled with this coming technology. The spreading of data at this scale can make it vulnerable to be attacked by Black-Hats.
But as the time comes, we will get ready for this too.
Possible Future Applications of XR.
As you guys already above, it will have all the capabilities of AR, VR, and MR. So, this section might not be full of surprise packages.
But let me mention a few of its applications.
- Real Estate.
- Remote Work.
As you can see, the above applications are obvious due to VR, AR and MR intersection. We can’t possibly mention any new application of XR because it is still under development.
So, as the new developments and projects will be announced in the coming future, they will be updated on our website.
In the end, I hope you found the article to be interesting and engaging.
